Codger chic

When I grow old I want to be either Jessica Fletcher, or Miss Marple (Geraldine McEwan as Marple to be very specific, even though one of these pics is the newer one whose name I forget)

It would also be marevllous to be Phylidia Law. Basically I want to grow old like a character in a Agatha Christie book. Or like the lady herself. There shall be fur, pearls, sleuthing and afternon tea on a daily basis.

You've Got Shame

This movie is old, and I know I know, but I'm addicted to it, no matter how obvious or lame it is. Books, New York and coffee are central themes - what's not to love? Mostly I still like the asthetic, its like a comforting warm bath or big duvet. I know, I'm pathetic.

I love Angela Lansbury

In almost all of her incarnations (excluding the terrible Miss Marple film and any episode of Murder, She Wrote where she affects an English accent. Yikes)

A little bit of Jeeves and Wooster

Preppy!!

J Crew Autumn 2011 looks heaven
Below on the left might be my favourite outfit. Although I do like the V-neck and skirt in differing shades of the same colour, as above and in orange further below. And the great glasses frames. Dammit I want all of it!

It kills me to add Fearne Cotton here, but this is a great outfit and I have to bow to that. Also annoyed because the skirt is no longer available.
This might not count as preppy, and silly facial expressions aside, I just like the coral jeans with the stripe and then the really hacky-looking grey sweater on top.

 These I want...

But instead will get a Cambridge Satchel Co one in the summer I think, and full intend to get my initials on it in gold. Too exciting!

More books!

I seem to collect books now. By which I mean I don't just buy a book because I want to read it, I seem to buy pretty editions of the same books over and over instead! I also seem to be developing an aversion to modern books and writers, and am rather stuck in the 1930s at the moment. So the narrative voice in my head sounds like Nancy Mitford or Bertie Wooster. Simply heaven of course, but in real life I'm at risk of sounding like a twat.

Anyway I digress. Pretty books I shall need when they come out in the autumn:

I do adore Penguin

Tea lights

A while ago I realised I have a slightly unhealthy thing for tea cups and saucers. I drink out of big greedy mugs but still have a collection of very pretty cups and saucers that is too big for my kitchen cupboard. Bt does come in handy for cocktails (initially out of necessity but I rather like it now!). But this has started to spill over to lighting.

These Royal Doulton anniversary ones I rather want the entire collection of

These are the excellent cocktails tea cups (bit small for actual tea if you're as greedy as I am)

I have a particular weakspot for kitschy cups!

So I am super happy about an extra early birthday present I got at the weekend, that I have had my greedy little eye for about a year now. I think I will need to change the lampshade at some point, somehow clutter it up a bit
